I know of four people in my family that served in world war two. My uncle Walter served in the navy and fought against japan in the pacific. My uncle Alex served in the polish army. He said that even though Poland fell to Germany, the army still fought alongside the American army. My uncle bill served in the army, he died on D-day . And then my great grandfather served in the army and he won a...
Anonymous asked: None of my family that I know of served in the war (It is possible though that I had family fighting for the Americans and for the Germans as horrifying as that thought is for me - I know I still have family living in Baden-Baden and of course some of my family is here in America.) - but it affected my family all the same.

Thank you to the new followers! :D
And… Stories are still welcome!
So are letters!
Anonymous asked: I know this is late but I actually have two stories.
My grandfather and his best friend were both doctors and they signed up for the military when the war started. One of them was supposed to get chosen to be sent to Omaha beach, and my grandfather's friend was picked because he had one less child than my grandpa. Thankfully both of them got through the war safely though..

A little perspective...
Christmas is this Saturday.
Hard to believe that all those years ago, it was this time of year that the men of Easy Company were sleeping in foxholes in the Ardennes Forest, freezing in the cold, spending the holiday wishing they were back home. I couldn’t even begin to imagine what they went through during Bastogne, and it’s unfortunate that many of them did not make it back to their...

I’m currently reading Easy Company Soldier by Donald Malarkey
He was there when he was needed and how he got there you often wondered”, Foley...
– Roe said he was away from Easy Company for only four days when he’d baldly sliced his leg in Holland. He still has a piece of shrapnel in his arm from the siege at Bastogne, when Allied troops were surrounded and he couldn’t be evacuated for medical care.

Anonymous asked: I have no idea where to begin with this. The men of Easy Company have got to be my favorite in all of history. They did what they did not just because they were told to, but because they HAD to. They knew they were fighting for their families back at home. So many men were lost, from Normandy to Bastogne and even during occupation. I truly have no words for how I feel about them, I just know that...
Anonymous asked: I admire Easy for so many reasons it would take forever to list them but first and foremost, They were just ordinary men who did the impossible. They banded together like a family and protected each other, surviving some of the most horrifying things our world has seen. Even still they remained humble, I feel like the members of Easy really were heroes. I can't type more or I may get mushy,...
